Simple Ways to Create Your Legacy

It Is Easier Than You Think

Creating a legacy of giving is easier than you think. Before you get swept up in holiday get-togethers, take some time to start creating your legacy at the organizations you care about most, like Northwestern.

Here are two ideas to help you get started.

  1. Name Northwestern as a beneficiary. This arrangement is one of the most tax-smart ways to support Northwestern after your lifetime. When you leave retirement plan assets to Northwestern, the University bypasses any taxes and receives the full amount.
  2. Include Northwestern in your will or living trust. This gift can be made by including as little as one sentence in your will or living trust. Plus, your gift can be modified throughout your lifetime as circumstances change.

An Important Note

Making changes to your will or living trust will require that you set time aside to meet with your estate planning attorney. We promise the time you spend to plan for your future, and ours, will be time well spent.
